Sexual & Gender-Based Misconduct Response (SGBM-R) provides trauma-informed services and adaptable processes to support individuals who have experienced sexual and gender-based harm. SGBM-R utilizes restorative approaches and educational interventions to guide students who have caused harm in acknowledging the impact of their actions, working towards meaningful accountability, and taking steps to repair harm. SGBM-R achieves this work using multipartial facilitation and sustained engagement through shuttle negotiation, facilitated dialogue, restorative circles/conferences, and circles of support and accountability. SGBM-R includes Adaptable Resolution (AR), STARRSA Active Psychoeducation (STARRSA AP), and Review and Reintegration (R&R).
Adaptable Resolution for students is a voluntary and restorative process used to address harm within the community stemming from sexual and gender-based misconduct. Adaptable Resolution creates space for those who have experienced harm to explore, alongside a trained facilitator, a spectrum of pathways co-created to meet expressed needs. These pathways create opportunities for meaningful accountability, harm repair, and education to prevent future harm.
STARRSA Active Psychoeducation is designed to address sexual harm in a college student population. The STARRSA AP program identifies knowledge gaps related to risk factors and assists those who have engaged in sexual misconduct in developing beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that promote healthy, consensual, and safe intimate relationships and sexual behavior.
Review and Reintegration provides a pathway to a restorative return to campus for a student found responsible for sexual harm. Review and Reintegration utilizes Circles of Support and Accountability to offer space for students to reflect on learning, determine the appropriateness of lifting sanctions, identify resources and support for sustained success, and plan any additional measures needed to ensure successful reintegration into the campus community.
