The Office of Student Accountability (OSA) is here to ensure that concerns related to individual student behavior and student organization conduct are addressed through clear, fair, and consistent processes at the University of Michigan.
What we do:
OSA manages investigations and formal resolution processes for students. If a student is involved in an alleged violation of the Statement of Student Rights and Responsibilities, OSA leads the process and invites active participation of the impacted party and responding student.
For student organizations alleged to have violated university policies, OSA conducts thorough investigations and then refers cases to the appropriate campus departments for resolution. This approach helps ensure consistency in investigations and allows staff in the respective departments to support students through the resolution process.
OSA’s work is guided by federal laws, including the Stop Campus Hazing Act, and by the university’s commitment to student safety, learning, and accountability. We welcome concerns from students, campus partners, or anyone wishing to report anonymously.
What you can expect:
- Processes that are clear and student-focused
- Support for resolving a conflict even if the impacted party does not wish to participate
- Opportunities for learning and growth, including hearings or agreements whenever circumstances allow
- Thorough, objective investigative reports for student organization cases, provided to the appropriate department for resolution
Learn more about the Formal Resolution process, or reach out to our staff through the Request for Services form or email at studentaccountability@umich.edu. We’re here to help every Wolverine move forward in a safe, respectful campus community.
