Request a Workshop

OSCR offers a number of different workshops that focus on various aspects of Restorative Justice and conflict resolution skills and philosophies. Workshops can be requested by any group, organization, or department, so long as at least one of the attendees is a student. We offer both virtual and in-person workshops, as well as an asynchronous recorded workshop, depending on the needs and interests of your group. Once OSCR receives a workshop request, we will reach out to confirm the information. To request a workshop, please complete the request form below, and an OSCR representative will reach out to you. Please submit any request at least two to three weeks in advance of your intended workshop date to allow OSCR to meet with you, identify facilitators, and create session slides. In your request, please identify which workshop(s) fit your goals. More information regarding our workshop options can be found below:

Understanding Conflict & Communication Styles

In this workshop, we explore the basics of conflict resolution, including conflict styles, communication methods, culture and conflict, and active listening. We generally create two or more scenarios for participants to practice with that are adapted to the values and day-to-day activities of your group. We encourage participants to apply the communication methods to these scenarios, and consider how individuals’ differing conflict styles impact how they approach the conflict. If you are familiar with our workshops, this is our standard workshop that we have offered in past years. This workshop typically runs for 60 minutes.

Conflict Transformation & Intercultural Conflict Styles

This workshop moves beyond the basics of conflict resolution and explores conflict at a more abstract level. We focus on what aspects of relationships and dynamics give rise to conflict and how looking more closely at the smaller details of relationships can yield insight into how, when, and why conflict may arise. This workshop also explores Intercultural Conflict Styles, particularly noting how one's culture and lived experiences can shape the way they show up in and respond to conflict. This workshop would be ideal for any groups that are diverse in background, identity, and upbringing. This workshop typically runs for 60 minutes.

Foundations of Restorative Justice

Highlighting the key differences between restorative justice and other kinds of justice, this workshop provides an overview of the origins of restorative justice, its application to conflict resolution, and the benefits it has for repairing harm and relationships. Session content includes resources for further learning as well as some practice activities to explore the shift from punitive justice systems to restorative ones. This workshop is ideal for any group that wants to be equipped with a foundational overview of Restorative Justice that can be implemented into their practice. This workshop typically runs for 90 minutes.

Setting Values & Navigating Group Dynamics

This workshop is a great option for groups and teams looking to set, reaffirm, and/or rethink their values and norms. OSCR facilitators will work with your group to learn about the group's current culture and create activities and content to help the group brainstorm where they would like their organization/team to go in the future. This session can also touch on power dynamics and how internal leadership structures influence organizational culture. This workshop often yields a list of shared values, norms, and group expectations that is shared with participants after the workshop has concluded. This workshop is ideal for groups that rely on healthy team dynamics in order to be successful. This workshop typically runs in the range of 60 to 90 minutes.
